Rethorical Analysis Cover Letter

In my rhetorical analysis essay I focused on writing for an audience who just finished the to read the short fiction “The Tent” by Margaret Atwood, as it was confusing to me the first time I read it, I decided to write for someone who has finished the story recently, a family member or a classmate. I analyzed and summarized what the author was inquiring about and what methods she used to do so.

The most meaningful insight I have gained from writing my rhetorical analysis essay was that sometimes, changing your writing style can be difficult especially when you have barely exercised the new style. I write for me and to me, I like to write making errors and repeating myself to emphasize on what I meant or what I want you to think about, but analyzing someone else’s writing becomes hard, as everyone has a different style and sometimes trying to understand the reasons behind an author’s words takes more time than you first think about. I even want to ask Atwood myself the why of her choices. I am curious, I tried my best but I am still not sure whether or not I understood why she did what she did.

Purpose and genre have more impacted my learning for these essays, finding the purpose behind a single word, why a specific noun was used and why in that specific order. I thought that genre has to do with it, but this specific writing style of The Tent has made me think more about word choices, and how impactful they can be, even the smallest word or simplistic word can affect the attention of the reader into your writing. It’s like you have to think of your words even before thinking about your purpose. What words do I like to use? How can I use them to say something that makes sense? Are my words better for this writing or that other genre? I had to think twice before using the words I used, maybe different words would have impacted more but too much thinking will not be good.

“Compose texts that integrate your stance (i.e. your thesis) with appropriate sources using strategies such as summary, critical analysis, interpretation, synthesis, and argumentation.” I used this specific outcome for this phase assignment, specifically using the strategy of interpretation and critical analysis. There were several quotes to use, but I had to find the ones I could use the best to clarify or support my analysis. I hope I used them correctly, if I didn’t at least it is something which will stick to me in my future writings.
